Having a professional online presence is vital for the success of your business. 67% of the US population has a social network profile, and 284 million of us are active on Twitter every month.
If your online profiles aren’t right you’ll be losing interest, and ultimately business.
Practical tips: Conduct a social media audit ensuring your images, bios and links are all up to date and consistent. Use hashtags and SEO perfect language to optimize your profiles. Follow influencers, competitors and interesting people in your industry or area of interest.
You can update your images using free online sites like PicMonkey and Canva. They’re perfect for creating eye-catching cover photos and images specific for social media!
Did you know that YouTube is the number two search engine in the world? Neither did I! It seems obvious when you realize that a third of all online activity is spent watching video, and every day, 100 million internet users watch a video online.
Video marketing has rapidly become essential for all business owners, and it’s important that businesses do their research and take time to get it right.
Practical tips: think about what you’ll use video for. Will it be used for internal communication, or for training employees? Will you use it in email marketing, or exclusively on your social media channels? Each video will need to be right for the medium and the individual.
Do your research thoroughly before embarking on posting your first video. Make a playlist on YouTube or Vimeo of some of your favourite videos and those which inspire you.
Invest in the right training (using a camera, presentation skills, editing) and any equipment that you’ll need.
Practice makes perfect, so don’t be disheartened if your maiden video it isn’t right the first time.
With more and more individuals increasing the time they spend using digital devices, podcasts are suddenly popular again. (The cult of Serial anybody?)
Podcasts are a great way to capture the interest of clients and target customers, particularly as we all want maximum information in the minimum amount of time.
Practical tips: think about how your potential podcast will set you apart from your competitors. It needs to have a real USP and offer clients something that they can’t get anywhere else. Invest in training and a podcasting kit- you can begin with inexpensive equipment and upgrade at a later date!
Encourage your listeners to subscribe by offering a teaser at the end of each episode, and don’t forget to promote on your other channels.
